Culture of Care Initiative
Manifesto
Learn more about our mission and values.
Humanitarian work in conflict and disaster zones around the world is difficult and not much respected. The challenges and increased danger put pressure on individuals and organizations, and many humanitarian workers experience trauma, stress, and burnout.
We acknowledge all those people who dedicate their lives to humanitarian work and recognize the suffering that has arisen due to the unintended and painful consequences of their willingness to put their lives on the line for the humanitarian cause.

We appreciate and thank all those who have spent time to work in the humanitarian sector and we support those peers who struggle to deal with the negative impact of their own humanitarian work experiences.
The Culture of Care Initiative’s goal is to advocate for and to promote healthy and safe working environments within humanitarian teams, projects, and organizations, and to build a respectful peer community that is supportive of the lifelong healing journey that we are all experiencing.
